RE: CNN They report the news before it happens...

It has been down classed to a class 2 for 2 days now... It will NOT be the hurricane of the century... Good grief...

RE: IRS issues

The IRS is soo screwed up there is a good chance they won't even catch it.. buddy of mine hadn't filed in years,, did finally and paid his fair share, never a word about the years he missed.. :-) What years did he miss? Pretty sure I covered for him. I'd like my money back :M I don't think what you paid would have been any less had he paid what he should have. In truth... you covered for no one. However... The IRS WILL gets its fair share from him one way or another.

RE: DUDE! Didja forget ya got a dually?

Looks like a moron who does not know how to park. He figures because he drives a big truck (and does not know how to park) he is entitled to more road space... A common problem with people who drive large pick ups. More often than not.. the bigger the truck, the smaller the brain. I drive about 300 kms a day in city traffic so.... if anyone wishes to dispute what I said... be ready to be proven wrong. Trolling in these forums isn't usually received well. I had no idea my educated opinion was "trolling". If that is your only contribution to this subject then maybe it should have been left unsaid. It makes you look foolish (or like a troll).

As spoken by a true "Four wheeler" that does not have a CLUE of the challenges of driving and parking a dually much less a "Big Truck" in city traffic. (18 wheeler) I drive/have driven BOTH! Accident free so far with over 30 years behind the wheel of large vehicles. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! As far as the "Be ready to be proven wrong" statement. Be ready for the "Stupid stuff four wheelers have done" stories I have seen/experienced. I could keep you for HOURS with stories of stupid stuff that would have resulted in serious crashes, IF I had not anticipated a "Stupid Stunt" from a "Four wheeler". I don't think you want to go there....... No, I did not wish to go there but please. If you insist PM me. (and don't cry after)

At least you can replenish the wine supply at Wal Mart even if it isn't the best wine. Chuck Is that a vote for $2-Buck-Chuck? :B 2 buck chuck is excellent wine but.... Unfortunately... walmart does not sell booze here in Canada.

RE: OLD CAMPERS (many photos included)

Here are mine through the years... First off, as a child, we had a CamperBus from the 60's. Dad bought 2 busses and fixed them up, selling one to recoup the investment on both. It went through a few paint changes. First it was dotted with black sponges like a leopard, then next was green with a big W like a Winnebago, then finally a log cabin effect. We were the original Partridge Family before they even thought of it! http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/kareninthewoods/camperbus.jpg Then on to the 70's.... Dad bought this old Mayfair, I think it was a 1950's model. We would live all summer in it at the lake, and then in the winter it would be parked up on some leased logging land, where we would snowmobile in to get to it, even for holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter (yes, Easter still has a lot of snow in the UP of Michigan) http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/kareninthewoods/oldmayfair.jpg Now it's the 80's and I am out on my own with my own family. After a few years of various tents, I fanaged to get this old Apache pop-up as a Mother's Day present. Gosh I hauled that old canvas monster for many a mile, and we had the best times! We would toss in the firewood, the kids bikes, and the lawnchairs, and off we would go! And it's still being used today!!! http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/kareninthewoods/myapachetransformed.jpg On to the early 90's. We graduated up to a 1972 Winnebago Chieftan. Boy oh boy, did we hit the high life now! I had a water heater, a shower, and a real oven! AND a toilet... a God-send with having kids. I was able to get this for my own in my divorce, as my ex hated repairing it anyhow. I put on over 70,000 miles on it, just me and my kids. What a wonderful adventure, and LOTS of wrenching! http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/kareninthewoods/winnegabagochieftan.jpg Ahhh met the man of my dreams in the mid 90's, who also didn't care to wrench on my Winnebago, so he convinced me to sell it and he bought us a new travel trailer in 96. ... it was a brand new 1997 33ft Sierra by Forest River. NEVER had I ever had anything SO NICE! And he put it in MY name, even though we had't even married yet. He wanted me to trust him, and also have a reason to sell the old Winnebago. We pulled it all the country on the tiniest of backroads. THEN we got married and even went for 2 weeks around Lake Superior for our honeymoon. We blended four teens into a family, and plenty of their friends along, camping was a delightful, if not tiring, adventure. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/kareninthewoods/emptychairs.jpg Now the kids are gone and it's 2002. My health circumstances changed, and hubby dearest felt a motorhome would be more comfortable. So loaded up with 2 dogs, our adventures continued. This was a 1994 Coachmen Santara, 28ft. gasser. We also bought a Honda Helix for up on a back rack to get around. We put a lot of miles on this rig, but it started suffering from delamination and needed more TLC than we were willing to put into it. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/kareninthewoods/parkedatpaintriverforks.jpg Ahhh, dear Steveio saw this 1996 Safari Serengeti for sale, and fell in love with it. (2nd to me, of course) He begged for 6 months for us to buy it, and I kept saying NO NO NO. Our lives drastically changed again in 2006, when our son suddenly died. We decided life is too short, things can change in an instant, and Steveio deserves a rig that he wants. So we tightened the belt buckle and bought it! http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/kareninthewoods/Niobrara4dangedtourists.jpg And the adventure continues..... That was an awesome story. Thank you very much for sharing that with me. Bruce.

RE: Wayward kids wandering into campsite

People in general just don't have common sense any more. We were parked in our RV at a casino parking lot- designated for RVs. Another RV pulls up next to us about 15ft away, then their friend comes and parks his pickup between the two of us. The parking lot was totally empty, by the way. We had about 4 ft to move around. I just ended up packing everything up and moving further away.:R

RE: Vitamin and other supplements- should you take them ?

My doc discourages multi-vitamins, too. I DO take a milk thistle with doctor's blessings. It helps regenerate the liver and I had a liver problem. I will agree with this...

RE: What’s with the smudge pots? (Rant)

I have tried not wade into this topic but I must. The better half and I spent two weeks in Penticton BC about a month ago. The weather was awefull when we arrived so, we spent the first night at a hotel and decided to look for a campground the next day. We spent the better part of the next day looking at a lot of campgrounds until we found one that allowed fires. Most didn't and most of the ones that didn't we much nicer than the 2 we found that did. I refuse to camp without a fire. If I wanted to sit outside in the dark or inside watching tv or doing whatever, then I would stay home. Most people.. no... all people I know and have spoken to are very considerate when talked to. If you want to know why someone is having a smokey fire during the day.. ask. If you have problems with fires... please stay away from campgrounds that allow them. I have not seen one person on this thread argue in favour of stinky plastic/paint/garbage/gasoline burning fires. I have yet to see anyone in this thread say they started a huge fire and left it unnatended or defended such behaviour. I have yet to see anyone on this thread who would not be reasonable if asked to not chop wood near their camper. I suppose what I am trying to say is... If you have a problem with someone... TALK TO THEM ABOUT IT! do not come here and whine. Bruce.

I am not even a football fan but every gosh darn time I watch the movie "Rudy" I cry like a baby... Grrr.... I am a manly man! I once watched it with a gf and "had to go to the washroom" several times... Bruce.

RE: Taking two truck spaces at Flying J

if the OP didn't think in at least some small part that what she did was wrong then she wouldn't have asked. Therefore... All opinions yay or nay are valid. My opinion is that what she did was rude at best and dangerous. If your MH/Trailer/ whatever cannot be used without the slides out and you intend to travel late at night... you made a poor purchase. Simple as that. Poor planning.. Poor decisions and poor taste.
